I’ll admit it, matcha is an acquired taste. But I, for one, LOVE it and I know there are lots of fellow matcha enthusiasts out there {hey friends! 😉 }. It’s very earthy and intense so you just need a bit of the lovely green powder, which is powdered green tea, to get bold flavour. If you love green tea or green tea lattes, you will love this matcha latte 🙂

This is my favourite way to enjoy green tea! You can adjust the amount of matcha to your tastes- I like mine strong. | The RefreshanistaI went with coconut milk for this latte. First of all it makes it dairy-free, handy for vegans and lactose-intolerant people. PLUS it has a very creamy and silky texture which pairs well with the intense matcha powder for a well-balanced latte.

With matcha, you’re consuming the entire leaf so you get all of the nutrients opposed to brewing loose leaf green tea. It has been said that matcha has 137 times more antioxidants than regularly brewed green tea! Antioxidants help protect our bodies from cell damage and disease- so drink up!

Since I’m the only matcha-lover in my household, I drank one cup and saved the rest in a mason jar in the fridge. It’s surprisingly amazing cold! I drank the chilled matcha latte this morning and it was a delicious boost I needed to wake up 🙂

Coconut Milk Matcha Latte

Total Time 8 minutes
Servings 2 cups

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of coconut milk {I used Silk Original}
  • 2-3 teaspoons of good matcha powder {suggestion below}
  • 1 tablespoon of raw sugar or honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a small pot and whisk vigorously to combine.
  2. Let mixture heat over medium-high heat until it just starts to simmer.
  3. Remove from heat and pour into two small mugs or one large mug.
  4. Top with frothed milk if desired.
