I don’t know what it is about a loaf, but a loaf of anything makes me so happy! I love savoury loaves- cheesy, garlicky, herby. But I really really love sweet loaves. Fluffy and full of fruit or chocolate or cinnamon, you just can’t go wrong. This orange cranberry loaf is a healthier makeover of my favourite flavour of sweet bread. Sweet orange and tart cranberries just pair so perfectly together 🙂

I like to use Greek yogurt to lighten up a recipe and add more protein. It works really well in this orange cranberry loaf, making it moist and fluffy. It’s like a miracle ingredient for baked goods 😉

A slice of this loaf would make for a yummy breakfast alongside some hot tea. Or also as a delicious snack to get you through a midday slump! It’s made with whole grains and has protein from the Greek yogurt so it’ll give you a more steady energy than a sugar rush and crash.

I like to test recipes at my mom’s house because we are a family of 7- if something is good it’s gone within an hour or so. I baked up this loaf and everyone kept asking me if they were allowed seconds! Needless to say this one was a success and gone very very quickly.


Orange Cranberry Loaf

  • 1 3/4 cups of whole wheat flour
  • 1 tablespoon of baking powder
  • 3/4 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup of coconut oil melted
  • 3/4 cup of plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon of pure vanilla extract
  • 3/8 cup of orange juice
  • 1 cup of frozen cranberries
  • optional: brown sugar to sprinkle on top


  1. Preheat your oven to 375F and lightly grease a loaf pan- I used coconut oil.
  2. Sift together flour, baking powder, brown sugar, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. In a medium sized bowl, beat the egg. Then mix in coconut oil, Greek yogurt, vanilla, and orange juice.
  4. Add wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just barely combined.
  5. Add in cranberries and fold to distribute throughout the batter. Pour batter into loaf pan and sprinkle the top with a handful of brown sugar if desired.
  6. Bake for 35-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the centre of the loaf comes out clean.
