Making your own DIY beauty products is a great way to ditch unnecessary chemicals and it's surprisingly easy! Ingredients to start with_-2

shea butter

Shea butter is a new favourite of mine. It’s very lightly scented and highly moisturizing, making it a perfect base for body butters, lotions, and creams.

coconut oil

Coconut oil has become a total craze these days- and for good reason! It’s extremely moisturizing and promotes healthy skin and hair. More about the wonders of coconut oil here.

cocoa butter

Cocoa butter is a deliciously chocolatey smelling butter from the cocoa bean. It’s a fantastic moisturizer and helps heal skin. Great for creams and salves.

sweet almond oil or grape seed oil

Both of these oils are nice and light while also giving the skin lots of moisture. Perfect for a massage oil or lightening up a body butter.

epsom salts

Epsom salts are known for being detoxifying and nourishing for skin when added to a warm bath. They are the base for many bath salt recipes, generally you can add your favourite essential oils to some epsom salts and you’re all set for a relaxing bath!

peppermint essential oil

Peppermint is one of my absolute favourite essential oils. It’s soothing, cooling, and invigorating at the same time and pairs well with cocoa butter for a delicious mint chocolate scent.

lavender essential oil

Lavender essential oil is another staple ingredient. It’s a very calming scent, perfect for adding to epsom salts for a relaxing bath!

tea tree essential oil

Tea tree is a great addition to skincare to help fight blemishes.

Lovely Extras

lemon essential oil

I love lemon essential oil because it smells delicious and refreshing. It’s also helpful for lightening scars.

eucalyptus essential oil

Eucalyptus oil has a lovely, calming scent and is also great for when you have a stuffy nose.

rose essential oil

Rose oil has the classic floral scent of roses and adds a calming and romantic scent to your bath and body products.

  1. I’m convinced there’s nothing coconut oil can’t be used for!

I use lavender essential oil in my essential oil diffuser and LOVE it. So calming and it makes my whole dorm room smell fantastic! People always want to know what the scent is 🙂
