I love making my own scrubs, but before I started making my own beauty products at home, I used to spend tons and tons of money on scrubs and body butters from beauty shops. Now that I’ve gotten into making my own with pure, natural ingredients I don’t think I’ll ever buy another scrub or body butter again!
DIY beauty products are so easy and perfectly customizable. Need more moisture? Add more coconut oil. Have an acne problem? Add some tea tree oil. When you make your own, you know exactly what is in it 🙂
This scrub has a nice, light lemony scent. The combination of coconut and lemon makes it smell like a delicious dessert! Don’t eat it though 😉 I got my lemon oil from Saje, a wonderful plant-based wellness store.
This recipe makes a small jar of scrub- perfect gift size! You can also double or triple it to make yourself a nice big jar of scrub to keep your skin fresh and smooth all winter long 🙂 I know I definitely stock up on scrubs as the weather gets colder.
I like to use this scrub on my legs, just before shaving. I massage the scrub onto my wet legs until the sugar melts- then shave! It leaves my legs feeling super silky and soft and helps get a close shave.
DIY: Coconut Lemon Sugar Scrub
- 2 tablespoons of coconut oil
- 5 tablespoons of white sugar
- 6-8 drops of lemon essential oil
Simply mix all of the ingredients together and store in an airtight jar.
To use- take a small amount and massage onto wet skin. I like to use this scrub before shaving, massage the scrub in until the sugar melts then shave. Super silky!
