I can’t believe it’s almost week 3! It has definitely been a learning experience to eat 99% local. Here are my notes for Week 2:
- It’s hard to eat all local and cook when you’re sick! I’ve been sick for about a week now, which is why I’ve been a little quiet lately. I wasn’t able to cook a few of the meals from week 2 so they will have been put on week 3’s meal plan. I’m finally feeling better so I know I’ll be able to stick to this meal plan.
- The simplest recipes are sometimes the tastiest! I made a broccoli cheddar pie, just a few simple ingredients, and it was SUPER delicious 🙂
Now for Week 3’s meal plan! My shopping list is much shorter this week- partly because I wasn’t able to eat much last week and also because my fiancé was able to pick up some extra veggies yesterday! He works at a non-profit family centre and the farmers that sell their produce in the parking lot like to share whatever they don’t sell.
He picked up beets, kohlrabi, turnips, broccoli, potatoes, swiss chard, cauliflower, green onions, and purple cabbage. It’s always a mystery bag of veggies because he has a hard time identifying veggies! He thought the cabbage and swiss chard was lettuce and the kohlrabi was an onion 😛 It makes things more interesting though because I’ve never cooked kohlrabi or swiss chard 🙂
